Can an Undocumented Imigrant Obtain a Florida Driver’s Licenes?
We have to tell you the truth…
NO…Under the current law, in order to get a Florida license you must be a US Citizen, US Resident or have a legal status accepted by the FLHSMV
But, thing might be changing soon…
In the month of march a new legislation was proposed in Florida, which if passed, would grant the right to illegal immigrants to obtain a FL license using a document accepted by the FLHSMV like a valid foreign passport or a foreign birth certificarte.
What are the benefits of undocumented immigrants having a license?

The FL Immigrant Coalition explains that FL drivers with benefit of lower insurance premiums & safer roads. Additionally, if a 75% of FL resident currently not able to get a license because of their legal status were to get a FL License, the state would see an increase of $4 million dollars a year.
FL would be the 13th state that allows illegal immigrants to obtain a license
California, Colorado, Connecticut, Delaware, Illinois, Maryland, New Mexico, Nevada, Utah, Vermont & Washington
This are the 12 states that currently give the right to an undocumented immigrant to ger a drivers license or some kind of driver’s permit.
If the legislation passes, it would take effect on July 1st
For now, if you fall under any of this categories, you can obtain a Florida Driver’s License

US Resident
US Asylum Seeker
Student or Investor with valid Visa
Tourist
An accepted, by FLDHMV, legal process
